Privacy Questions to Ask Before You Install

A privacy-focused baby app should make these answers clear:

Where is the data stored?

For European families, EU storage matters. Sunny Seed is designed around Firebase in europe-west1 and Cloudflare R2 for media instead of Firebase Storage. The goal is to keep baby records on EU-oriented infrastructure and avoid unnecessary copies.

Can you delete everything?

Parents should be able to delete an account and the child data behind it: profile data, children, diary entries, tracker records, media, FCM tokens, and shared-access records.

Can you export your data?

A good baby diary should not trap your history. Export matters for moving apps, changing phones, preparing a pediatrician visit, or keeping a family archive.

Who can see the child’s diary?

Family sharing needs consent, and you should know what it grants. In Sunny Seed the child profile is owned by one parent and can be shared on Premium with named family members, who then have full editing access — there is no read-only invitation today. Access is granted per person and revocable, never handed out as a public link.

Is children’s data used for ads?

Baby data should not be sold to ad networks or used for targeted advertising. If an app is free, check how it earns money and whether it depends on ads or data sharing.

AI Features Deserve Their Own Question

AI can be useful when it helps structure diary notes, prepare questions, or summarize patterns. But baby data is sensitive, so before you use one, find out exactly when the app sends the diary somewhere and what it sends.

In Sunny Seed the AI features are Premium and they run on demand: a question you send the assistant, an entry you ask it to polish, a chapter you ask it to write. The one exception is the monthly letter, which is generated once a month for Premium accounts from that month's entries. • Firebase region: europe-west1 for GDPR-oriented data storage
• Media storage: Cloudflare R2, written through an authenticated endpoint — the app never has public write access to the bucket
